Maybe I should blame the fans because they did the voting. However, CBS sports has always been a favorite whipping boy of mine for years. For the past couple of weeks CBS Sportsline has had a tournament for the greatest tournament teams in history. The All-Duke team lost out to North Carolina in the elite eight. The final four is UNC-UCLA and Indiana-Kentucky. That might be a strong field however, I think Duke got a raw deal and the public voted with their feelings instead of true talent. The real travesty is the Worst Title team poll (1990-present) that they recently put up. Not only did they list 2001 Duke as an option, but they have 9% of the vote. As Duke fans we put up with a lot of shit, however how can the internet sports community possibly think that 2001 Duke in even in the discussion for worst championship teams. Does everyone forget that 2001 Duke was the only team to beat every team by double digits. Also coming back from twenty down to Maryland and still winning by double digits. Come on people, lets get real. You can hate Duke all you want, but to possibly think that 2001 Duke is a bad championship team is pure bullshit.
If you have voted this way, please do yourself a favor and never watch another college basketball game again. Don’t even pick up a basketball.

These media guys (tv and newspaper)write these anti-Duke articles just to get themselves attention. Think about it nobody cares that Maryland has slipped from the top since 2002. Yeah they have beat Duke 2 years ago buts thats as good as it gets for them. You don’t see wide-spread artices about the collapse of their team because the rest of the nation doesn’t care. Now Kentucky I will admit has got a little attention of their fall but it doesn’t compare to Duke’s latest attention just because they didin’t make it past the first round a year ago and the 2nd round this year. But these media guys fail to talk about Duke’s current streak of making the tournament. What current NCAA appearnences streak does Maryland, Kentucky, UNC or anybody else have????? They also fail to talk about Kentucky going out in the 1st round and did Maryland even make it? So they only write articles that are anti-Duke and even some pro-Duke because people all over the county love Duke or hate Duke but these people don’t care about Maryland, and yes Kentucky fans can be jealous because their reign was over a long time ago. If CBS and others are leaving out Duke then there must be some hate among them which really means Duke is still at the top of the basketball world.
to # 10: this has nothing to do with the report above, but is about the poll you referenced about the favorite college basketball team. only 23% of those polled follow college basketball, and 59% percent of those polled don’t follow any college sports. so duke is the favorite among most people who don’t know anything about college sports. i tip my hat to duke’s loyal fan base.

Why does it feel like I’m back in high school again? I actually thought Tar Heel and Terrapin fans were bad. I’m beginning to realize why Carolina fans can’t stand you guys. I have tons respect your program and the history behind it. There just seems to be a lack of reality among some of your fan base. UK is not the best basketball in the country. It’s usually part of the conversation, but it’s not the best.
Dude I don’t hate UK. They are a great college and have greatly improved their football program as of recent but they are NOT CURRENTLY at the top of the basketball world. Duke does have a lot of hate (we all know it, I mean look you UK guys are on a DUKE message board, which is funny!!!!) so you yourslef can’t deny the popularity WHETHER HATE OR LOVE for Duke when you are a perfect example of somebody who goes as far as coming on a Duke board to whine. I have to apologize to all the fans of our beloved school…but we were ranked high(again).Had a cake walk non-conference,lost to the better ACC in conference games,and then lost(again) to a team we should have beaten in the tournament…my apologies to all 2% of the fans that did vote! Out of the 14 non-conference games Duke had last year, 6 of them were tournament teams: Wisconsin, Davidson, Pittsburgh, Temple, Marquette, and Cornell.
