Kyle Singler Wins the 2010 POTGOTY Award

Congratulations to Kyle Singler for winning the 2010 POTGOTY Award. You may be asking yourself, what is theĀ  POTGOTY Award? Simply put, this is a DukeReport.com exclusive and stands for the Player of the Game of the Year. After each game, I pick a Player of the Game. At the end of the season, I tally up my picks and the player who was named POTG the most is the winner . Sounds pretty simple, right? This is not an MVP Award, thank goodness, because I wouldn’t even know who to pick.

I’m a bit surprised that Kyle won, because Jon has been our rock for most of the season. As it turned out, Kyle got his POTG’s at the beginning of the season and at the end. Jon happened to get his during the middle of the season, especially during ACC play.

This is the second time that Kyle has won this award. Unfortunately for Kyle, there is no trophy for this award, just the satisfaction of a job well done.

Here’s the final breakdown: Kyle Singler – 17, Jon Scheyer – 11, Nolan Smith – 9, Brian Zoubek – 3, Lance Thomas – 2, Mason Plumlee – 1.

Here’s a great highlight reel of Kyle:
