Josh Hairston plays with an intensity that if channeled can help Duke.I heard several people tweet it over the course of the Duke-Virginia Tech game and I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I kind of thought about the same thing.Josh Hairston can be this team's Lance Thomas. If you are a new fan or one that doesn't have a very long memory, then all should know and remember Lance. The lanky 6-foot-8 forward who was a late commit to Duke almost six y...

The conversation came one day after the 6-foot-10 center reclassified from the class of 2013 to 2012. ESPN [...]...

For a basketball program accustomed to top-10 rankings, first-place ACC finishes and No. 1 NCAA Tournament seeds, the number 89 seems out of place—unless it’s referring to some sort of winning streak. Unfortunately, that number may come to define the rest of season for the 2012 Blue Devils. Basketball statistics guru Ken Pomeroy ranks Duke [...]...

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP)—Changes to the starting lineup. A team ban on social media. A bus ride to Blacksburg. Duke made lots of changes coming into its game at Virginia Tech on Thursday night, and the No. 7 Blue Devils put together one of their more complete performances in a 75-60 victory. “Once we get going and our offense gets going and our defense plays at the same level as our offense, we’re a good team,” said Ryan Kelly, who scored 15 po...

With renewed defensive vigor and team play the Blue Devils show the critics tsat Duke does begin with “D”. Duke was able to match, surpass and eventually deflate the spirit of Hokies. After the Hokies tied the ball game at 21 Duke was able to get to the rim trip after trip and by the time Virginia Tech could catch their collective breaths the score was 34-23. Duke shared the ball on offense, was crisp and deliberate, something that ha...

The Duke Chronicle shook up basketball-loving alums this past week when it reported that student attendance has been in steady declined in recent years, leading the athletic department to reluctantly sell tickets to fill up the seats around Coach K Court. Head coach Mike Krzyzewski has said that ball distribution from the backcourt is still a work in progress. The numbers echo Krzyzewski’s concerns, with Duke dishing out just 13.5 assists per game, 127th best in the country. However, the legendary coach may not have to worry for much longer. The Blue Devils recorded 14 assists [...]...

Quotes like: “I am not pleased with today. I am not pleased with today one bit. One bit.” and  “I’m going to read all my books and see what I’m missing because there’s something missing. It’s not resonating with our team,” are things fans are used to hearing after a team loses, not when a team wins, but when a Coach K sees his team nearly give a game away, at home, those are the appropriate responses.  Duke got the crows and noi...

How likely am I to bet on my Duke Blue Devils? Not likely, certain games I would be more likely to bet on than others. Most home games are a given. Road games at Clemson normally I wouldn’t, UNC and North Carolina State and Florida State are not games I would take. Wake,  Gtech, MD and Boston College are all games that I would bet on. The iffy game would be Virginia Tech, every other year or so they play Duke tough at the RBC. Generally I...

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- A special night at Maryland was unceremoniously ruined by Duke (No. 6 ESPN/USA Today, No. 8 AP), which had its own agenda in this matchup of longtime rivals. Mason Plumlee scored a season-high 23 points and the Blue Devils rebounded from a rare home defeat by pulling away to a 74-61 victory Wednesday night. Before the game, Maryland honored former coach Gary Williams by dedicating the court in his name. Williams, the winning...

Devilhoops: Wayne Selden One of the most coveted prospects in the 2014 class is Wayne Selden from The Tilton School. Duke has made contact with the 6-foot-5 Star, who plays with top 5 2013 Stud Nerlens Noel. Selden noted that he has put in a lot of work on his shooting stroke from a interview done by Clint Jackson of Devils Illustrated. In the same interview, Selden also said that he has an admiration for the Blue Devils' success and the traditio...

We lost to Florida State on a buzzer beater. Our team defense isn’t where it needs to be. Fifty points in a half to anyone won’t cut it. Deficiencies for our Devils aside, we really looked like we liked one another out there, didn’t we? That may not have brought us the win against the [...]...
