Luke Kennard Wins the 2017 POTGOTY Award

We here at Duke Report would like to congratulate Luke Kennard for winning the 2017 POTGOTY Award. POTGOTY stands for Player of the Game of the Year. The award goes out to the Blue Devil who was chosen as the Player of the Game most often throughout the season and is exclusive to Duke Report. Past winners include Grayson Allen, Jahlil Okafor, Jabari Parker, Mason Plumlee, Austin Rivers, Nolan Smith, Kyle Singler (twice) and DeMarcus Nelson.

In Kennards’s second year as a Blue Devil, he averaged 19.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg, and 2.5 apg. He was named Consensus second-team All-American, First-team All-ACC, and ACC Tournament MVP. He improved his scoring output by almost 8 points a game this season, as well as besting last season’s numbers in rebounds and assists.

Kennard edged out Grayson Allen (10) to win the award this season. Despite missing a number of games early in the season, Jayson Tatum finished strong with 8 POTG’s.
