Luke Kennard’s name was just announced as the #12 overall pick by the Detroit Pistons in this year’s NBA Draft.
Kennard averaged 19.5 PTS / 5.1 REB / 2.5 AST / 86% FT in his sophomore season for the Duke Blue Devils.
He joins a Pistons team who finished last season fifth in the Central Division of the Eastern Conference.
The Pistons currently have Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Reggie Bullock (qualifying offer), and Michael Gbinije at the SG spot. Kennard could provide a boost to the second unit on offense and give them another 3 pt weapon.
Coach K on Kennard:
“He can shoot from the outside, he can score from in between, and he hits free throws,” Krzyzewski said. “Luke is all business-like, all-team wise. I think he’s going to go high, because there’s a need for that in the NBA.”
