In this week’s edition of the Duke basketball recruiting roundup, we offer some in-depth analysis of the eventual Marques Bolden announcement and a few developments regarding Duke targets in the class of 2017, including one elite prospect who trimmed his list.

Every Friday, our recruiting roundup focuses on stories related to Duke basketball recruiting targets and commitments from the past week.

Who Were the Nation’s Top Prospects this Spring?

In an article published on Sports Illustrated, the team from Scout looks at who the top prospects have been at the eight events they’ve covered this spring. Mohamed Bamba is the first player featured, and the 5-star center is one of Duke’s top targets in the class of 2017. Bamba has excelled this spring as one of the best rebounders and defenders in the country. See more by checking out this new highlight video of him playing in the EYBL.

Marvin Bagley and Romeo Langford are two players in the 2018 class who hold offers from Duke and also made the list of spring standouts.

Duke and Kentucky Headed for More Recruiting Battles in 2017?

This piece by Ben Roberts for the Lexington Herald Leader focuses more on Kentucky recruiting, but it does offer an interesting projection of how things could unfold in the class of 2017. The Wildcats currently have extended 14 offers for the 2017 class, and of those 14 offers, the 247Sports Crystal Ball projects 11 of the players will pick either Kentucky or Duke. These two programs have established themselves as the recruiting superpowers of college basketball over the past few years, and it doesn’t appear the arms race will slow down anytime soon.

Talking Marques Bolden with John Watson of The Devils Den

We posted an interview earlier this week with John Watson from The Devils Den, the Duke site in the Scout network. Watson offered his perspective on the recruitment of Bolden and the impact it could have on this coming season and the potential 2017 recruiting class. He also offered an opinion on whether he thinks the Blue Devils should be considered the favorite to land Bolden. Be sure to check out our full interview.

2017 5-star D.J. Harvey Cuts List to 9

According to a tweet from ESPN Recruiting Director Paul Biancardi, 2017 5-star shooting guard D.J. Harvey has cut his list of possible schools to nine, and it still includes Duke. The Blue Devils are joined by Louisville, Maryland, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Texas, UCLA, UConn and Villanova. The biggest surprise with this news is that Arizona wasn’t included on the list, as the Wildcats had been considered the favorite for Harvey.

Why Duke Has a Win-Win Situation with Marques Bolden

This Duke Report article looks at how the recruitment of 5-star center Marques Bolden puts Duke in a unique, fortunate situation. The Blue Devils are operating from a position of strength where they appear to have solid frontcourt depth for next season and are in good shape to re-load with more frontcourt talent in the class of 2017. This means that regardless of whether Bolden chooses Duke or Kentucky, things should work out just fine for the Blue Devils.
