Duke Basketball Recruiting Roundup – May 6 Edition

Jayson Tatum Frank Jackson DukeThanks for checking out this week’s Duke basketball recruiting roundup.

It’s been a relatively quiet week for the Blue Devils, as Marques Bolden’s college decision is still the major story that’s keeping Duke fans anxious. It seems like any type of comment or action by the 5-star center leads to fans and recruiting analysts trying to determine if Bolden is set to make an announcement.

We have a couple stories related to Bolden, as well as some other notes and features connected to other Duke recruiting targets and commitments.

New Mixtape for Frank Jackson

Duke fans can get excited about next season by checking out this new mixtape of Frank Jackson from Ballislife. The 5-star guard from Utah is expected to take over the point guard for the Blue Devils next season and help make up for the transfer of Derryck Thornton. Jackson’s play over the past year helped him climb into the Top 10 of ESPN’s final recruiting rankings for the 2016 class.

No Announcement Date for Marques Bolden

Take this with a grain of salt in the ever-changing world of the Marques Bolden recruitment. According to a report yesterday by Adam Rowe of 247Sports, no announcement date has been set yet for Marques Bolden. The 5-star center is deciding between Duke and Kentucky, and the article from Rowe includes a quote from the athletic director at Bolden’s high school about the lack of an announcement date, at this time.

Duke Well Represented in The Courier Journal’s Super 5

The Super 5 is an annual feature by The Courier Journal, which recognizes the nation’s top high school seniors by creating four All-American teams. The Blue Devils are well represented on the teams, with Harry Giles and Jayson Tatum making the first team and Frank Jackson being selected for the third team. Jackson was joined on the third team by Marques Bolden.

Awesome Highlight Video from Duke Blue Planet

Just go ahead and add Duke Blue Planet’s accounts to all your social media channels to make sure you never miss any of the great videos they’re putting out. One of the most recent features is this fantastic hype video that includes highlights from all five members of Duke’s incoming 2016 freshman class.

Feature on 2017 5-Star Kevin Knox

I missed this one in last week’s recruiting roundup, but it’s a great story from SB Nation’s Ricky O’Donnell about Kevin Knox, a 5-star wing who’s one of Duke’s primary targets for the class of 2017. The article looks at how Knox’s growth and size led him to basketball over football, and how he’s exploded on the recruiting scene over the past couple years. With the way he’s improving, Knox has the potential to be the biggest star in his class.
