Mike Krzyzewski has told ESPN that he will indeed be stepping down as head coach of Team USA after the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janiero.

Coach K was hired by Jerry Colangelo in 2005 to lead Team USA. He has had an impressive run as head coach compiling a record of 75-1, winning gold medals at the Olympics in 2008 in Beijing and 2012 in London, as well as the 2010 World Championship, and most recently the 2014 World Cup.

It will be hard to top what Coach K has done and meant to USA Basketball. It will be interesting to see who they tap to replace him. That announcement should come sometime in the next year before the Rio Games.
