Hello, good people of Duke Report’s readership. I just wanted to take this opportunity to formally introduce myself before subjecting all of you to my musings over the next few months. My name is Jimmy Kelley and I will be taking over the bulk of the writing and content-related responsibilities for Duke Report effective immediately.
If my name rings a bell it’s because you have likely clicked on a few of the posts from my blog, Devils in Durham, during this season. Started in October, Devils in Durham was my attempt to make a name for myself in the college basketball world while simultaneously covering my favorite team to watch and root for: the Duke Blue Devils. In a way, it worked. Jim Oliver approached me about taking over some of the editorial responsibilities for Duke Report a few weeks ago and that was an opportunity I simply couldn’t turn down.
Which brings us to now. There will be a few new faces added into the mix of Duke Report’s already solid stable of writers and even some voices you’ll hear more and more of in the coming weeks. Here is a brief introduction to my team and what they will be doing here at Duke Report.
Sam Dostaler was our podcast producer over at Devils in Durham and the man behind the mic for our Speak of the Devil podcast. Sam is an aspiring commentator and classmate of mine at Springfield College who has experience calling games live, conducted great interviews and even running a live radio show on the local CBS Sports Radio Network affiliate in Springfield. Sam will still be bringing his voice to the podcast here at Duke Report.
Greg Fitzpatrick is a freshman in our Communications/Journalism program in Springfield that has taken the opportunity to gain some writing experience by being our resident morning link guy. Greg will still be filling this responsibility here at Duke Report and will be helping you sift through some of the links you already come to Duke Report to catch. Consider him your taste tester.
As for me, expect off the cuff columns, game recaps/previews and quick-hit news stories similar to what helped us gain steam over at Devils in Durham.
So take a walk down this road with us. It should be fun.
