163 media members cast their ballots for preseason All-ACC team at the annual ACC Kickoff event this past week.  On Thursday the team was announced.

Senior safety Jeremy Cash and senior center Matt Skura were both named to the preseason all conference squad.

Cash was the leading vote-getter on the defensive side of the ball with 116 votes.  Skura was the leading vote-getter for all offensive linemen with 111 votes.  Both men are expected to be huge leaders on their respective side of the ball for Duke this season.

Cash put off his NFL career for one more season in Durham and will lead a talented secondary that returns nearly every piece from the 2014 team.  Skura will help break in new starting quarterback Thomas Sirk.  Sirk and Skura worked together some last year, as Sirk was brought in on some specific packages on offense, but will be full time partners in 2015.

While Cash and Skura were the only Blue Devils to be named to the preseason All-ACC team, four other players finished second at their respective position in the voting.  Tight End Braxton Deaver, returning after missing all of 2014 with an ACL injury, finished second to Virginia Tech’s Bucky Hodges.  Kicker Ross Martin placed behind Florida State’s Roberto Aguayo.  Punter Will Monday finished behind Alex Kinal from Wake Forest.  And  safety/kick returner DeVon Edwards finished second to punt returner Ryan Switzer from North Carolina in the specialist category.

Clemson led all teams with 5 selections, while Florida State and Virginia Tech each placed 4 on the team.
