Duke offensive lineman Laken Tomlinson was selected by the Detroit Lions in the first round with the 28th pick.

Tomlinson is the highest drafted Blue Devils since Lennie Friedman was selected by the Denver Broncos with the 61st pick in round 2 of the 1999 NFL Draft.

Laken started 52 games in his Duke career, anchoring one of the best offensive lines in college football over the last few seasons.

Tomlinson has been recognized for his accomplishments both on and off the field.  He was selected as a 2014 first team All-American by the Associated Press and Walter Camp Football Foundation and a second team selection for USA Today, Athlon, and The Sporting News.  He is also a two time All-ACC selection and was also the recipient of the 2014 Courage Award by the FWAA and a member of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team as recognition for his community service and athletic and academic accomplishments.
