ACC Coaches Tab Rebecca Greenwell, Azurá Stevens All-Conference

GREENSBORO, N.C. – A week after the Blue Ribbon Panel selected Duke standouts Rebecca Greenwell and Azurá Stevens to the All-ACC team, the league’s 15 head coaches named the duo to their All-ACC team Monday.

Stevens received first team accolades as well as All-ACC Defensive team honors, while Greenwell earned Second Team All-ACC honors.

Joining Stevens on the 10-member first team were Shakayla Thomas (FSU), Aaliyah Whiteside (Georgia Tech), Myisha Hines-Allen (Louisville), Mariya Moore (Louisville), Adrienne Motley (Miami), Lindsay Allen (Notre Dame), Madison Cable (Notre Dame), Brianna Turner (Notre Dame) and Alexis Peterson (Syracuse).

Stevens, who hails from Raleigh, N.C., has averaged 18.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.1 blocks, 1.6 assists and 1.3 steals on the season. Her 18.9 points ranks second in the ACC, while her 9.6 boards leads the league. Even though she missed seven games with a foot injury, she still leads the ACC with 14 double-doubles.

In ACC games only, Stevens totaled an ACC-best 20.4 points and 10.1 rebounds in nine contests. She registered five double-doubles in the nine league games. Stevens is a Naismith, USBWA and John R. Wooden Award candidate for National Player of the Year.

On the second team with Greenwell was Adut Bulgak (FSU), Miah Spencer (NC State), Brianna Butler (Syracuse) and Dominique Wilson (NC State).

A native of Owensboro, Ky., Greenwell received All-ACC accolades, after averaging 16.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.8 steals. Through the regular season, she ranked eighth in the ACC in scoring, fourth in three-point field goals made (73), fourth in three-point field goal percentage (41.7) and eighth in free throw percentage (77.1).

Greenwell collected the sixth-best scoring average in ACC games only with a 16.0 clip, while ranking tied 18th in rebounds (6.1), tied third in three-point field goals made (41) and second in three-point field goal percentage (44.6). Her 73 three-pointers made on the year ranks as the third-most in Duke single-season history.

Stevens also received All-ACC Defensive Team honors along with Brittany Brown (Florida State), Brianna Turner (Notre Dame), Briana Day (Syracuse) and Alexis Peterson (Syracuse). Her 2.1 blocks per game currently ranks third overall in the league.

Also being released Monday was the All-Freshman Team featuring Mariella Fasoula (Boston College), Asia Durr (Louisville), Stephanie Watts (UNC), Destinee Walker (UNC), Marina Mabrey (Notre Dame), Arike Ogunbowale (Notre Dame), Brenna Wise (Pitt) and Ariel Stephenson (WFU).

Notre Dame’s Brianna Turner was selected ACC Player of the Year, while Irish head coach Muffet McGraw earned ACC Coach of the Year. Stephanie Watts of North Carolina was named ACC Freshman of the Year by the coaches.

Duke (20-12, 8-8 ACC) advanced to the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament before falling to top-seeded Notre Dame. The Blue Devils await the NCAA Tournament selection show Monday, March 14 at 7 p.m., on ESPN.
