DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University signee Leaonna Odom is set to compete in the 2016 McDonald’s All-America game, which is slated to tip at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 30 live on ESPNU. Odom will suit up for the West team.
Odom is coming off helping lead her Chaminade College Preparatory School in West Hills, Calif., to the Open Division State Championship over the weekend. The 6-0 wing registered a game-high 33 points along with 15 rebounds in the title contest to help Chaminade defeat previously undefeated Miramonte, 80-71, at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, Calif.
With the state championship, Chaminade moved up 14 slots to No. 6 in the latest espnW high school power rankings with a 31-4 overall record.
Odom was averaging 21.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.2 blocks and 1.6 steals late in the season.
With Odom’s McDonald’s All-America selection, the Blue Devils have now brought in 26 different McDonald’s All-America honorees, including 14 under the direction of head coach Joanne P. McCallie. McCallie has tallied at least one McDonald’s All-America competing during each of the last seven years.
