GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Duke University duo of Rebecca Greenwell and Kyra Lambert headline the 2016-16 All-ACC Women’s Basketball Academic Team, which has been announced by Commissioner John Swofford.
Greenwell received All-ACC Academic Team accolades for the second straight year, while Lambert earned the honors as a rookie with the Blue Devils.
A native of Owensboro, Ky., Greenwell has averaged 16.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.8 steals on the season. She ranks eighth in the ACC in scoring, third in three-point field goals made (2.4/game), third in three-point field goal percentage (41.7) and ninth in free throw percentage (77.1).
Greenwell collected the sixth-best scoring average in ACC games only with a 16.0 clip, while ranking tied 18th in rebounds (6.1), tied third in three-point field goals made (41) and second in three-point field goal percentage (44.6). Her 73 three-pointers made on the year ranks as the third-most in Duke single-season history.
Lambert, who hails from Cibolo, Texas, averaged 6.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.1 steals in 32 games as a freshman. The point guard started 23 contests and drained 18 treys. Her 79 assists ranked second on the Blue Devil squad. Lambert is coming off totaling 12 points, four rebounds and two assists in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals against top-seeded Notre Dame.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
